It is roughly midway between Athens and Thessaloniki and so well situated for exploring mainland Greece, including the medieval monasteries of Meteora, classical Delphi, and the mountains and beaches of the Pelion peninsula, as well as the beautiful but untouristy area of Magnesia itself with pretty villages, sandy beaches, archaeological sites and a friendly welcome for visitors.
Go to Googleearth site then type 'Amaliapolis' the best place to see the location of the village with lots of pictures.http://www.traveljournals.net/explore/greece/map/m1191805/khorio_amaliapolis.html
